Universal Mediref Installers

Notes:

  1. Please do not utilise these installers with any other installers available via the support docs/Mediref website.
  2. Other than the Mediref virtual printer, Mediref is entirely usable from any modern browser, and as such, will work in almost any, internet connected set up.
  3. The virtual printer does speed up the sending process and is something we recommend. For standard Windows/Mac installation instructions, please see the related articles linked below.
  4. Removal of any previous installations - If you have installed/tried to install Mediref previously, please remove these installations.

Step by step set up

Deletion of old Mediref installation (if applicable)

  1. Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - remove any Mediref related programs.
  2. Control Panel- Printers and Devices - remove MedirefPrinter
  3. Delete any Mediref shortcuts.

Download and run these three installers (in this order)

  1. The Mediref Printer Driver here
  2. The Mediref Server Printer
  3. The Mediref Application Installer here. During this installation, you will be presented with a couple of options. Please ensure that you:
    1. Run the installer for all users - this way you don't need to run the installer for every single user on the server
    2. Select the default 'Program Files' directory as the installer pathway

Please note, number (1) and (2) are .msi files. You will need to run these using CMD. Please open CMD as administrator (right-click...open as admin), even if you are logged in as admin.

To run an MSI (Microsoft Installer) file from the command prompt, you can use the msiexec command. Here's the basic syntax:

msiexec /i "Path\to\Your\Installer.msi"

If you need any help at all, please let us know and we will do so via TeamViewer. Note - You will need to have server admin permissions to do these installations. If you do not have these, please arrange this installation with your IT team. If they need, we are happy to TeamViewer in to the server at the same time as them.

Testing

  1. Open a word document
  2. Print the document , with "Mediref- Printer" selected as the printer of choice
  3. The print process should open Mediref with the document attached/login page.
