Mediref COVID-19 response - freeze on payments

To our fellow healthcare practitioners,
Our profession is going through an unprecedented time. Both Hemal and I (still active health practitioners in addition to software developers) can see first-hand the impact this is having on our society. The humanitarian and economic impact of this crisis is going to affect everyone.
From the Mediref side of things, while the humanitarian impact we can make is small, we feel we can do our part to soften the economic impact to our users. We recognise that there are practices out there struggling to maintain their bookings, and some that may not have enough PPE to stay open for much longer.
Accordingly, we have decided to freeze all payments for all our paid plans from the first week of April. Those on the free, receiving-only plan and our General plan will have their sending cap removed to allow unlimited Mediref use during this time.
Mediref's service and support will remain fully operational during this time.
Every business is borne out of resilience. Mediref is no different. The financial impact of this on our company is significant, but we all have a role to play in this. And this is one way we can help.

Expected Questions:

  1. How long will the payment freeze last?

We are not sure at this stage. With the situation around the country (and the world) changing so quickly, on a daily basis, we have decided to put this in place and reevaluate on a monthly basis. Needless to say, we will inform you before we start charging again.
  2. I am on an annual plan, how will this impact me?

We will extend the end-date of your subscription accordingly.
  3. How will this impact free plans and practices who wish to upgrade?

Any attempted plan upgrades at this time would be greatly appreciated and a big vote of confidence! That said, even if an upgrade is made, your card will not be charged and payments will be deferred to when we reinitiate charging for Mediref.

Those on a free, receiving-only plan will also have their send-limit lifted and get full access to all of Mediref's functionality.
  4. When is the exact date that this will happen?

This has been put in place as of the 1st of April.
  5. What if I get charged right before you implement the freeze?

All practices will receive the same benefit. Those charged right before the payment freeze will have their benefit automatically applied to their next scheduled payment instead.
If any of the above is unclear or you have any questions or feedback, please let us know.
Bonus ask from us - We are exploring other avenues we can help the situation. If you have any ideas for potential programs/software that could be helpful (streamlining logistics, for example), then please reach out to us. Here are some already out there:
Interactive map from Johns Hopkins (reliable!) detailing the spread so far
Folding @ Home - crowd-sourced computer power to speed up the research process
Toilet paper calculator - No explanation needed, more for a ðŸ˜’
Mask Match - linking those with masks with those who need them (US centric)
Best of luck and stay safe!
